Its members have worn many hats throughout their musical careers and this band is the culmination of our collective knowledge and influence. Jazz and R&B, hip-hop and funk stuff, Caribbean and Latin — that's most (of the) Chicago manner we utilize, all these outside styles, bringing them in.

The LDB actually started as a New Orleans cover band, and the group's sound evolved over time to incorporate elements of genres such as hip hop, funk and reggae. Being unique is never a problem for a band that smashes some jazz stereotypes while almost creating their own genre that defies description.

While taking a page from the jazz and blues giants of the past, the LDB melds modern funk, hip-hop, reggae and pop into a unique new style. The Lowdown Brass Band (LDB) breaks the barrier between audience and performer with their live show, which features dynamic vocalists, hip-hop MCs, and body movement that gets any wallflower up and on their feet.

His diverse influences including Stevie Wonder, John Coltrane, and Pharrell Williams have helped mold a blend of musical styles that comes out one hundred percent unique, fresh, and timeless. We're from Chicago another melting pot of all kinds of music the strong horn tradition that has been such a big part of the city like the music of Chicago or Earth Wind & Fire, or the great jazz and blues tradition, which we are all heavily influenced by.
