Chicago's LowDown Brass Band deftly synthesizes the gritty sounds of Chicago with the high energy second-line street beat of the Crescent City. The LowDown Brass Band Horns will feature 3 members of Chicago's fiercest brass band. Levine says that after this experience, he returned to Chicago and expressed an interest in forming a New Orleans-style band to some of his musician friends. In addition to brass-based jazz and blues groups like the Rebirth Brass Band, they draw their influences from an eclectic array of artists from Michael Jackson to Lee Scratch" Perry.

The LDB has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such artists as: Lake Street Dive, G Love and the Special Sauce, Dumpstaphunk, The Stooges Brass Band, Ricky B, Wycliffe Gordon, Bonerama, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, The ' Myʼs, and The Drastics.

Though recognized for their fluency in Afrobeat and funk music, the band is known to collaborate with diverse groups and artists, from Angélique Kidjo to Jovanotti to Medeski Martin & Wood to Public Enemy, and served as the house band at Carnegie Hall in 2014 (Music of Paul Simon), 2015 (Music of David Byrne & Talking Heads) and this year's 2017 Music of Aretha Franklin.

The LDB breaks the barrier between audience and performer with their live show, which features dynamic vocalists, hip-hop MCs, and body movement that gets any wallflower up and on their feet.

His diverse influences including Stevie Wonder, John Coltrane, and Pharrell Williams have helped mold a blend of musical styles that comes out one hundred percent unique, fresh, and timeless. In 1977, The Dirty Dozen Social and Pleasure Club in New Orleans began showcasing a traditional Crescent City brass band.

While taking a page from the jazz and blues giants of the past, LDB melds the funky parade sounds of Mardi Gras with pop, funk, soul and reggae into a unique style, often putting an original spin on your all-time favorites. Combining elements of New Orleans Dixieland jazz, funk, ska, Latin music and hip-hop, Lowdown Brass Band has a staggering 11 members, including two drummers, trumpeters, trombonists, a sousaphone player, vocalist and saxophonist.

LowDown Bounce features Bigalow's remix of You Know Me" (Loiselle, LowDown Sounds), a classic bounce track in truest sense, and Ponder This," co­written by David Levine of LDB and Ricky B. Bottom line, this album kicks. LDB brandishes a powerful brass frontline of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, with a funky backline of drums and sousaphone.

The LDB added elements of hip-hop and funk, reggae and to the jazz improvisation by adding emcee Billa Camp, a DJ scratching and the selective sampling of the band's horns and drum parts in the transition on its fifth studio album Low Down Breaks, which will be released in mid-January.
