Chicago's LowDown Brass Band deftly synthesizes the gritty sounds of Chicago with the high energy second-line street beat of the Crescent City. 19. There was most definitely a significant gap of time though, after the Christmas album, for us to get our shit together and release LowDown Sounds. Combining the poetic ferocity of Billa Camp with stellar vocal harmonies, adventurous improvisation, movement, and grooves, LDB creates an infectious and diverse sound that has something for every listener.

Recently performing with Dan Deacon at Lagunitas Beer Circus following an ambitious project titled LowDown Sounds" that included a critically acclaimed cameo by Roy Ayers on the track "Everybody Loves The Sunshine." LowDown Brass is now set to begin the next chapter with the release of their 5th self-produced full length studio album "LowDown Breaks." This new offering steps deeper into refining their unique sound, combining the hip hop sound with multiple world music and jazz styles.

Fresh off their appearance at The 2017 Chicago Jazz Festival, LowDown maintains a constant performing and touring schedule throughout North are releasing their self-produced full length studio album, LowDown Breaks," that combines the hip hop sound with multiple world music and jazz styles.

When it's all said and done, it'll almost be the same amount of time for LowDown Breaks, but the start-to-finish production on this one was significantly more extensive. Since forming in 2003, the Lowdown Brass Band has recorded a full-length album and an EP, both self-produced and self-released.

The Lowdown Brass Band has performed at some of the premier venues and festivals in Chicago, throughout the United States, and across the globe, including: The Metro, Double Door, Lincoln Hall, Schuba's, House of Blues, Cubby Bear, The Promontory, Hideout, Andyʼs Jazz Club, Cliff Bell's, Taste of Chicago, Wakarusa, Meijer Gardens, and the Cotai Jazz and Blues Festival.

What began as a Chicago collaboration between Lowdown Brass Band and Chicago hip-hop punk set, The Dread," has grown into one of LDB's biggest songs of 2017, aligning perfectly with the 2018 release of their new LP. With a commanding tempo ripe with roaring horns, long brass and robust beats, the song contrasts perfectly with Billa Camps flourishing vocals and profound individuality.

LOWDOWN BRASS BAND, hailing from Chicago, is a horn-driven tour de force. Lowdown Brass Band is David Levine, baritone saxophone; Chris Neal, tenor saxophone; Lance Loiselle, sousaphone; Mike August, drums; John Barbush, drums; Raphael Crawford, trombone; urban Sam Johnson, trumpet.

It started out of a love for jazz music and being in the scene in Chicago. Known for their blood-pumping performances, the Chicago band is touring the Midwest, Canada and the East Coast to promote their latest album, Lowdown Breaks, released in January. Chicago Funk Mafia is the local chapter of Funk Mafia International, an organization dedicated to the integrity and proliferation of funky music.

The fusion of MC Billa Camp's poetic rhymes and adaptive storytelling, one of the band's leading vocalists, has helped catapulted LDB's national movement with cruising vocals, ferocious depth and provocative flows that helped audiences to capture the LDB experience.

The Lowdown Brass Band, hailing from Chicago, IL, is a nine-piece, horn-driven ensemble with strong roots in the New Orleans 2nd Line Tradition. Chicago-based outfit that mixes New Orleans brass band music with jazz, hip-hop, funk, and soul influences. So really it's also about the evolution of music and how we can combine all those styles seamlessly, and also how this music something has staying power and is timeless.
